and Joe last week to get a little work done for school. As I sat down in getting ready to eat my yummy cupcake and drink my scrumptious Chai (it rivals the Bean and Berry's), I notice a teenage couple on the couch close by. Now, if anyone has been to C&J one would no that it is a great people watching place. After settling into my spot and plugging in the Mac I can not help but keep watching these two little love birds on the couch. They had to be no older than 19, and were dressed very artsy-fartsyish. The girl was giggling and the boy was petting. Then the girl takes a drink of her coffee.....through a straw! It was quite bizarre. Not a regular straw that one might find at a fast-food restaurant, but a coffee stirrer straw. This got under my skin for no good reason I can explain. She then proceeded to use the straw as a flirting tool. She would chew on it and giggle. I found the whole scenario interesting and kinda annoying, but I redirected my attention to my studies and listened to my Sigur Ros. Once the artsy couple left, my friend Jacquie who works there, came out from the counter to talk. I was voicing my coffee-straw-observations, when another customer chimed in that she notice it as well, and it bugged her....interesting.

Rumble

<img style="display:block; This movie shows our favorite family, The Griswold's, and their preparations for Christmas. Whether it be covering the entire house with lights, bringing home a real Christmas tree with wildlife and all, or having family members pump sewage waste in your front yard... nothing says Merry Christmas then watching Clark Griswold and his shenanigans. So I promise that I will make more of an effort. I think I will begin with a series of my thoughts on great 80's movies of my past. So here it goes...

#1- Xanadu

-1980 musical/romance

I know I have begun with one that a lot of people have not seen, but this was me and my sisters favorite movie when we were little. It has Olivia Newton John and Gene Kelley on roller skates= cinema magic. Basically your typical 80's artist meets a real life muse and wallah an awesome roller skating night club appears. Click Xanadu for a little taste.

More thoughts on 80's movies to come.

Time Eaters

There are things in life that I would classify as "time eaters." These are things that grab your attention and 2 hours later you find that you are still doing or looking at the same thing. So here are the things that I know eat up my time, but yet I still go back to them again and again.

1) Reading blogs
2) Facebook, I realize that both #1&2 can be classified as legalized stalking
3) TV series on DVD...once you start, you can't stop. The latest series to eat up my time would be House. I love it.
4) Looking at books in Barnes & Noble
5) Finding new music on iTunes
6) Tetris on my iPhone, I feel like i'm age six again with my old-school Gameboy
7) eBay....it is a land of bargains through competition...gotta love it

These are just a few, but I am ashamed to say that many hours of my life have been spent doing these things. Typing all these things out has made me realize that I need to spend more time doing the things I enjoy, but don't do enough. I also realized that all these things can be done alone. I guess I should focus my time more on pouring into other people.

Kelley Green

When I was little I used to sing a song called 'Colors.' Here's a little taste..."This is a song about colors, colors. You see them all around. There is red on a stop sign, green on a tree, blue in the sky and sea." You might ask why I am recounted this childhood tune...well let me answer.

Today a group of us got together to help my buds the Dief's paint their new coffee/ cupcake shop. Visit their website www.cuppiesandjoe.com. It's great, but I digress. As we were all painting throughout the shop we started talking about what color is everyone. This is not what color looks good on you, but more what color do you personify. So after much debate here were our conclusions. We got excited and decided to step off the typical color-wheel, and to quote my roommate, "who wants to be a primary color?"

Callie Moore-canary yellow

Matt Neal- flint grey

Dulce Garcia- ruby

Mark Clifford- midnight blue

Elizabeth Dief- burnt sienna

Megan Dief- olive green

Katie Dief- summer peach

Mama Dief- lavender

Papa Dief- brick red

And me...Kelley Green

So am I Kelley Green? Those of you who know these people...would you agree? For those of you who don't know these people...I hope you do soon, because they are splendid. So these are the quirky things we do on Sunday afternoons.

What color are you? If you don't know, I would be happy to make a suggestion (I think I have a gift).

Fall Music

I believe that music has seasons. Some music just sounds better in fall than it does throughout the rest of the year. I guess fall and winter kinda go hand in hand for me, but here is what's on the fall playlist.

Iron and Wine

Sigur The pumpkin cookie at City Bites, pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks, the pumpkin bagel and my new favorite neighborhood bagel shop, pumpkin candles (the best one is from Bath and Body Works...believe me I've tried them all)...you get the point.

4) TV shows start their new seasons. I have been waiting all summer to see my buds from The Office, House, Grey's, and ER. Not to mention the Dancing with the Stars has started...love it.

5)Football. As I write this I am sitting on my couch with my OU t-shirt on, waiting for the game to start. I love me some college football. Also, my eleven-year-old cousin is in a pee-wee football league. I've gone to some games and it is great.

6) School Supplies-Although I am no longer in grade school, I still feel I sudden urge to go buy school supplies. It reminds of the You've Got Mail quote, "If I knew your name and address, I would send you a bouquet of sharpened pencils." Now in the working world we can buy office supplies, but it is not the same. I love Crayola crayons and markers, Elmer's glue, Five Star notebooks (college ruled of course), BIC mechanical pencils, etc. Give me the name brand stuff, none of the cheap knock-offs.

These are just a few reasons why I love fall, as you can see I ramble.
